5:30–7:00 PM

RISING is a collaborative research project that uses photography and oral history to better understand coastal communities’ beliefs and understandings regarding climate change, and is featured in the forthcoming Coastal Food issue of Southern Cultures.

RISING includes photographs by Baxter Miller, and oral histories collected by Ryan Stancil and Barbara Garrity-Blake. Coastal snacks by Bill Smith of Crook’s Corner.

This project is made possible by a Community Collaborative Research Grant, a program of North Carolina Sea Grant in partnership with the William R. Kenan Jr. Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science at NC State University. Special thanks to our co-sponsors, Food For All, the Coastal Resilience Center, and the Department of American Studies.
